Owls have been feared and venerated\, despised and admired\, considered wise and foolish\, associated with witchcraft and medicine\, birth and death. This presentation will explore the myths that have supported these beliefs throughout history.\nRobert Mesta is a wildlife biologist who spent many years working for US Fish and Wildlife. Since retiring from there\, he helped create Liberty Wildlife’s Non-Eagle Feather Repository which provides federally protected feathers and bird body parts to Native Americans in tribes across America for their religious ceremonies. \n\nLiberty Wildlife’s Speaker Series introduces the public to various guest speakers about topics having to do with nature\, wildlife\, conservation and sustainability. \nSunday September 30th we welcome wildlife biologist and Liberty Wildlife friend Robert Mesta to speak to our visitors.\nDoors open to Liberty Wildlife at 9am. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Sustainability Expo at Liberty Wildlife on April 8th from 10am – 1pm.  \nEntrance fees: $6 for adults\, $5 for senior & veteran\, $4 for student (K-12)\, children 4 and under are free.  \nAn event created by our interns\, we will learn about various projects they have been working on throughout the semester. This includes the grand opening of our new pollinator bench and aviary!  \nThere will be multiple stations with fun sustainability activities including: energy conservation\, water conservation\, pollinators\, the importance of bees\, a “relaxation station”\, recycling basketball\, a photo booth\, and more! \nWe will of course have animal ambassadors throughout this event and an All About Owls program with a demonstration of multiple types of owls. \nThere will also be a FREE raffle where our guests can win a sustainability themed gift basket! \nWe are so excited to see you all there!
